The Chapel Royal
The Chapel Royal can be viewed only from The Royal Pew every day. The Chapel will remain open for services only.
Route closures
We may occasionally need to close routes temporarily or at short notice for maintenance or safety. Some spaces in the palace have restricted access or are closed whilst we carry out essential conservation works. Please see dates and information below.

14 May 2026: Hampton Court Palace will close early at 15:30.
On Sunday 17 May there will be no trains from Waterloo to Hampton Court. Replacement buses will run from Surbiton to Hampton Court.
On Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May Waterloo to Hampton Court services will be revised to run hourly. These services will start from Surbiton.

On Saturday 06 June, Sunday 07 June, Saturday 13 June, Sunday 14 June, Saturday 27 June and Sunday 28 June, buses will run between New Malden and Surbiton. London Waterloo to Hampton Court Services will run hourly. These services will start from Surbiton.

- 26, 27 and 28 August: The Great Fountain Garden will be closed, but with barriers in place to allow access between The Wilderness, East Gate and The Privy Garden.

- 26 September: The Privy Garden will close at 16:00 for a private event.

Great Gatehouse
The Great Gatehouse (main visitor entrance) will be closed until June 2026 with scaffolding in place.
Entry is temporarily re-routed via Seymour Gate - a large entrance gate to the left of the Great Gatehouse at the front of the palace.
The Mantegna Gallery
The Mantegna Gallery is closed during 2026 and will reopen in Spring 2027. Two paintings from The Triumphs of Caesar can be seen in The Georgian Story / Queen's Apartments during this time.
Gardens open days
The gardens will be open for free entry on the following dates throughout the year, with no tickets or pre-booking required. Entrance to the Palace, the Maze and the Magic Garden will still require a ticket.
Dogs are not permitted unless they are trained assistance dogs.
