Nurturing Nature: Mindfulness Session

Join us in Hillsborough Castle’s gardens to unplug, relax, enjoy nature, and learn how to be in the present moment. Learn and practice some simple mindfulness techniques to help improve and support your pupils’ wellbeing, anytime and anywhere!

This session takes place outdoors, whatever the weather, please encourage pupils to dress appropriately and bring waterproofs/suncream/comfortable clothing.

Please note: These sessions involve some mindful eating. Please let us know of any allergies or intolerances in your class in advance of your visit.

Learning objectives:

Pupils will:

  • Understand what mindfulness is and why it is a beneficial tool.

  • Learn that many celebrities practise mindfulness.

  • Learn that negative thoughts are universal but that we can control and manage them.

  • Try a range of exercises to encourage mindfulness.

  • Learn that being in the present moment can help them manage their thoughts and feelings.

  • Become aware that engaging with nature can help them positively manage their thoughts and feelings.

  • Pupils explore and express a sense of self in relation to emotions.

  • Pupils to develop self-esteem through self-awareness, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

  • Pupils to develop and practice coping strategies to help support positive wellbeing and manage their emotions.

  • Pupils to sustain their mental health in a positive way.
