How to make a donation
The Palaces in our care are expensive to maintain. We spent £32 million conserving and maintaining them in 2019/20. Basic maintenance alone, costs our charity £10 million a year across the six sites.
Caring for the buildings is vital – but it’s equally vital for us to keep them open to visitors and to share their stories. Much of this work would not be possible without the support of our donors.

The Gift Aid Scheme has been made much more user-friendly for the average donor with the abolition of the minimum donation requirement.
- If you are a basic or higher rate UK taxpayer, the Gift Aid Scheme allows us to reclaim a further 25p on every £1 you donate to us. This really boosts our income – and doesn’t cost you a single penny extra!

If you pay higher rate tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of tax 40 and/or 50 per cent and the basic rate of tax 20 per cent on the total 'gross' value of your donation. This means that your donation of £1000 will be worth £1250 for Historic Royal Palaces and will mean you can claim back £250 if you pay tax at 40 per cent (£1250 × 20%) or £370.50 if you pay tax at 50 per cent (£1250 × 20%) plus (£1250 × 10%).
