Kensington Palace was Queen Victoria’s childhood playground. Cosseted by grown-ups and isolated from children her own age, her toys provided moments of relief from the constraints of court life.
What toys and games delighted Queen Victoria as a child? What hobbies did she enjoy, and how did she entertain herself?
Led by a costumed presenter, children will delight in discovering the places Victoria played and the activities she adored. Examining images and objects, they will consider the similarities and differences between toys from the past and today and think about the importance of play to children across time.

- Examine toys to understand how objects can tell us about people’s lives in the past.
- Describe the characteristics of old and new objects.
