Join our intrepid history reporter, Tracey Tooley, on her mission to uncover England’s most infamous monarch, Henry VIII. Through interviews with Henry’s courtiers, rivals, wives and daughters, Tracey explores the many facets of the King’s life and reign.
This video series is filmed on location at Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London. It has been specifically designed as a school learning resource to support teachers and students studying Henry VIII and the Tudors as part of the England & Wales Key Stage 3 syllabus.

Learning objectives
Students will:
- Develop an understanding of the primary and secondary evidence that supports popular narratives of Tudor history.
- Critically evaluate the respective strengths and limitations of using the available evidence as a basis for building modern historical interpretations.
- Explore the connections, contrasts and trends of key events over Henry VIII’s reign.
- Students will explore concepts of continuity, change, cause and consequence relating to Henry VIII’s rule, 1509-1547.
- Assess the significance of Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London in enabling Henry VIII to assert his political, cultural and religious control.
