Terms and conditions
Once your visit is booked it is fully subject to these terms and conditions. You will receive a booking confirmation email which will have your invoice attached.
- Please check dates and times before completing your booking as mistakes may not be rectified after completion of your booking.
- All booking requests must be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the visit date. We might not be able to process your booking request if we do not have enough notice.
- Our Home Educator rates are available to UK residents only.
- Please make payment immediately upon receipt of your invoice. Our preferred payment method is by credit/debit card. Payment can be paid by calling 020 3166 6646 (our schools team) or 0203 166 6202 (our finance team). We retain the right to cancel your booking, or refuse entry, if payment isn't made by the visit date.
- We regret that all Home Educator tickets are non-refundable. This includes non-arrivals on the day.
- Changes to the date and/or entry time of a self-led booking can be made by calling 020 3166 6646 or emailing learning.info@hrp.org.uk , providing the preferred date and time is available and at least 2 working days’ notice is given. We will only be able to reschedule your booking to a weekday within the current academic year. Please note tickets for special events, such as Home Educator Days cannot be changed once booked.
- We ask that on the day of your visit, your whole group enter the site together and the Group Leader collects and distributes all admission wristbands.
- Each booking can be made for a maximum of 2 family groups, this is to ensure a smooth payment process and that all accompanying adults receive the necessary information.
- Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) have the right to cancel bookings at any time. In such a situation, HRP will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, but shall only be liable to refund you the booking payment only. Any other costs incurred are at your risk.
- The learning admission rate for Home Education visits are only available during UK term time, as defined by Historic Royal Palaces, and based on the local authority area local to each palace.
- Palace routes, exhibitions, and on-site experiences are subject to changes and occasional last-minute closures. We cannot give refunds for such closures.
- Intellectual property rights and copyright of any materials provided or delivered during any education sessions belong to Historic Royal Palaces and may not be utilised or re-purposed without our permission.
- In respect of any dispute, the laws of England and Wales will apply, except in respect of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens bookings where the laws of Northern Ireland will apply.
- You may not without our consent sell learning rate admissions, other than to members of a home education club, group, or association. Sales must be in line with our learning rate admission prices as sold to you. Our consent is at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to withdraw our learning rate should we uncover practices which contravene these terms.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and remain with their group at all times during their visit. We reserve the right to refuse admission to unaccompanied children.
- If you are bringing a large group, please note the minimum adult to child supervision ratios. These are dependent on the age of the children, as follows:
Age 4-7 = 1:5
Age 8-15 = 1:10 - Children under 5 will not be charged for but will be included when determining the free adult ratio.
- Smoking is prohibited within all buildings and anywhere on site unless you are in a designated smoking area.
- Eating and drinking are prohibited within all buildings, except designated refreshment and cafeteria areas.
- The use of photographic and recording equipment, or mobile phones (and selfie sticks), are prohibited within all buildings (unless otherwise advertised).
- Unless signage says otherwise, you are not permitted to touch any of the artworks or furniture on display.
- Dogs will not be admitted (except assistance dogs).
- Security checks are in place at all palaces and may include bag searches and sniffer dogs.
- Back packs and large bags/suitcases are not permitted to be carried within any of our buildings.
- We do not tolerate abuse of staff for any reason and will terminate visits or phone calls in the event of abusive behaviour.
