Exploring Diverse Histories KS3 CPD

Sophia Duleep Singh and the women who shaped her

About this session

Discover new ways to enrich your KS3 curriculum through the remarkable story of Princess Sophia Duleep Singh and the extraordinary women who influenced her life.

This full day CPD introduces teachers to The Last Princesses of Punjab exhibition at Kensington Palace, offering a powerful case study for exploring identity, empire, resistance and women’s histories with your students.

Confidence with tackling wider themes

You’ll gain confidence in teaching complex global histories while centring diverse voices. The day is designed to support you in developing historically rigorous enquiry that connects past and present, and empowers students to see themselves within the wider story of Britain.

Hands-on examples and free resources

Throughout the session, you’ll experience practical, classroom ready approaches that place curiosity, storytelling and high-quality resources at the heart of learning. You’ll also leave with strategies for building meaningful discussions around colonial legacies, migration, activism and representation.
