25 July – 7 September 2025
This summer, Peter Rabbit ™ will be hopping over to Hampton Court Palace for a brand new family trail that combines the sweeping gardens with the mischievous tales of Beatrix Potter’s fictional characters.
Officially licensed by Penguin Ventures on behalf of Frederick Warne & Co. (Beatrix Potter’s original publisher and owner of The World of Peter Rabbit) the Peter Rabbit™ Adventure will bring Beatrix Potter’s beloved characters to life, with the chance for children and adults alike to meet a larger-than-life Peter Rabbit during their summer outing to Henry VIII’s Tudor palace.
Included as part of general palace admission, family visitors to Hampton Court Palace this summer will have the chance to explore the Kitchen Garden, Tiltyard, and Wilderness while encountering familiar characters from The World of Peter Rabbit™. Activities throughout the trail will introduce little ones to the plants, vegetables and wildlife that inhabit the palace gardens. Whether using Mrs Tiggy-winkle’s washing equipment to make music among the trees, searching for Peter Rabbit™ under wheelbarrows and flowerpots in the Tiltyard, or trying to hop, skip and jump as high as Peter and his friends, families will encounter interactive games, riddles and puzzles to solve along the way.
While Beatrix Potter is best known as an author and illustrator, she was also a committed environmentalist, and many of the animals that inspired her stories can be found at Hampton Court Palace and in Home Park, both cared for by the independent charity Historic Royal Palaces. Little ones will be encouraged to look out for hedgehogs, wood mice, squirrels and toads as they explore the gardens, learning about wildlife habitats throughout the estate and the importance of caring for the natural world.
Families can look forward to meeting Peter Rabbit himself at set times each day, as the larger-than-life character will be popping up in the Kitchen Garden to greet families, and pose for photographs among the growing seasonal produce. Fresh fruits and vegetables grown in the Kitchen Garden by Historic Royal Palaces’ gardeners are to be incorporated into special Peter Rabbit™ menu items in the Tiltyard Café throughout the summer, for visitors in looking to refuel with a tasty treat.
After exploring the Peter Rabbit™ Adventure, little ones can come face to face with mythical beasts in the Magic Garden children’s playground, or run off steam in the palace’s formal gardens. Inside the palace, once home to the Tudor royal court, there is over 500 years of history to explore including Henry VIII’s Kitchens where historic cookery demonstrations take place each weekend.
Membership enables families to have unlimited days out to Hampton Court Palace and other Historic Royal Palaces sites all year round, including The Peter Rabbit™ Adventure, The Hampton Court Palace Food Festival and Henry VIII’s Joust all taking place at the Palace this summer.
For families in receipt of Universal Credit and other means tested financial benefits, there are £1 tickets available throughout the summer – these must be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

About Peter Rabbit™ and Beatrix Potter
The Tale of Peter Rabbit is one of the world’s best-loved children’s books and was originally written by author and illustrator, Beatrix Potter in a picture letter in 1893. It was first published by Frederick Warne & Co. (today an imprint of Penguin Random House) in 1902 and the story has never been out of print since, selling in excess of 46 million copies worldwide. Today over 2 million of Beatrix’s books are sold globally every year, whilst Peter Rabbit has appeared on books and merchandise in more than 110 countries throughout the world.
In 2026, we will be celebrating 160 years since Beatrix Potter’s birth. This will closely be followed in 2027 by the 125th anniversary of Peter Rabbit (marking 125 years since we first published Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit).
Penguin Random House Children’s is committed to growing and protecting The Peter Rabbit™ brand. The World of Peter Rabbit™, one of the world’s largest literary based consumer products and experiences programmes, is managed in-house by Penguin Ventures.
