About our MA in Heritage Management

Historic Royal Palaces has joined with one of the UK’s top universities, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), to provide a master’s course in Heritage Management.

This course will enable students to understand and work within Historic Royal Palaces’ world-leading heritage organisation, and to study and research Heritage Management, guided by experts at Historic Royal Palaces and Queen Mary University of London.

Who is this course for?

Whether you are already working in the heritage sector or are thinking about working in heritage, this MA will provide you with a deep understanding of the history, theory, practice and practicalities of heritage management.

The programme will give future heritage leaders the skills needed to address the managerial, intellectual, cultural, social, and technical challenges of maintaining and sharing heritage sites.

Scholarships with Historic Royal Palaces

For UK-based students from groups or communities that are minorities or under-represented in the heritage sector.

Covering part-time course fees over two years.

Course information

Course structure

  • Full-time and part-time MA programme.
  • Both courses offer a combination of academic study with professional masterclasses.
  • The workplace experience component will give you access to leading thinkers and practitioners in the heritage sector.

Entry Requirements

  • A good upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in any subject.
  • For students whose first language is not English, an IELTS 7.0 (with 6.0 in writing) or equivalent is required.
