Equality and diversity

At the heart of our Cause is the challenge to help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

That means we continually look for ways to promote equality and diversity and to avoid discrimination in everything we do –from the visitors we welcome, to the staff we employ and the services we provide.

People make the difference in our organisation; and all people are different, therefore we aim to build an organisation that truly values the differences in people – whatever that difference may be.

We have a continued focus on working with our teams and local communities to deliver HRP’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy so, along with making sure that our palaces are for everyone, we aim to reflect the UK demographic of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) population in our own workforce.

In order to achieve this we have identified four key strands of work:

  1. Widening our reach
  2. Supporting BAME talent
  3. Expanding pathways
  4. Creating an internal supportive culture and environment

We have established and developed strong and sustainable partnerships with key ‘Employment Ambassadors’ who represent the local communities our palaces serve to help us deliver this work and recognise that there is a strong business case for diversity –we believe diversifying our talent can add value to our business and open up opportunities for everyone irrespective of their background.

HRP is an equal opportunities employer and truly values a diverse workforce – we recognise the value in bringing people together from a wide range of diverse cultures, backgrounds and ethnicity and ensure that we act in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

We promote equal treatment for all employees or potential employees and do not discriminate on the basis of any ‘Protected Characteristic’, which include: age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage or civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex and sexual orientation.
