Hold the stories of the Tower of London in your hand and experience history where it really happened with a self-led audio described tour.
The tour is available to listen to on your own device from the Audio Described tour page. Alternatively, you can borrow a handheld push-button guide from the Beefeater shop.
The tour is self-led and free of charge with a Tower entry ticket for Blind and Partially Sighted visitors and an accompanying carer or companion. Complimentary adult carer or companion tickets can be obtained on the day of your visit upon presentation of supporting documents (such as a Blue Badge, Freedom Pass, DLA letter or PIP letter).

The tour takes you around the must-see highlights of the Tower, including the dazzling Crown Jewels, infamous Traitors Gate and the imposing White Tower.
Please see further information regarding the tour below:
- The tour is made up of 32 stops and takes around 2 hours to complete.
- It is arranged into separate tracks with directions between the main stops to help you navigate the Tower.
- Although we suggest you follow our route, some stops are optional - and you're welcome to stop off at the café or do some exploring of your own.
- There are tactile models along the route and plenty of opportunities to get up close and feel the history of the Tower of London.
Where do I collect my guide?
Handheld push-button guides can be collected from inside the Beefeater Shop, located on the right just past the entrance. Enter the shop using the second door and ask for an audio-described guide.
The first track on the guide explains how to use the device and a member of staff will offer more assistance if required.
Headphones
You are welcome to bring your own headphones.
- Headphones are required to plug into the handset. Bluetooth headphones are not compatible with audio guide handsets.
- Our audio guide handsets will accommodate most common types of headphones.

Assistance Dogs
Trained assistance dogs are welcome inside the Tower. This includes medical alert dogs. We are happy to provide water on request. Please ask a Yeoman Warder for assistance in accessing the moat – dog bins are provided.
