In the 1830s, this area of the Gardens was transformed into a serene and enchanting retreat. Cascading waterfalls were added to the stream as well as an artificial island. Exotic plants showcased the Victorian fascination with global botany.

Over time, however, the garden was neglected and faded from memory. By the late 20th century, it was completely overgrown and reclaimed by nature - earning its name, The Lost Garden.

Today, after redevelopment, you will find three distinct planting areas to explore: the Chinese glade, the Chilean walk, and the Irish bog garden, each attracting a variety of birds and wildlife.
