Members-Only Gardens Tours

Hillsborough Castle

  • Seasonal garden tours for Historic Royal Palaces members.
  • Exclusive opportunity to explore the gardens with prominent members of the team, Gardens Manager, Claire Woods and Keeper of the Walled Garden, Daniel Coombes.
  • Tickets are limited so please only book if you are available and can attend.

With ornamental grounds, peaceful woodland, meandering waterways and picturesque glens, the historic gardens surrounding Northern Ireland's royal residence are a joy to explore.

We recommend sturdy footwear as paths can be rough and routes will involve steep steps.

Garden history - 12 March 

Ideal for new members, join this introduction to the history of the gardens with Claire Woods. Discover the people, plants and stories that have shaped the royal grounds over the last 250 years. 

Bulbs, buds and blooms - 16 April 

Come and explore the gardens with Claire Woods at this exciting time of year, when everything is bursting into bloom. Be introduced to the bulbs in flower and the magnificent magnolias and camellias. Learn about the history, plants and people who have shaped the gardens.   

Summer blooms in the Walled Garden - 14 June 

Daniel Coombes will give a tour of the Walled Garden including the herbaceous borders, the newly redesigned herb beds, cut flower borders and vegetable beds. 

Harvest walk - 20 September

Join this tour of the Walled Garden as Daniel Coombes explains the methods of production used and the crops being grown. There will also be an opportunity to sample some of the produce.

Members go free. Advance booking required via the member portal, under Member-Only Events.

Tours start promptly at 11:00 in the Weston Pavilion and last approximately 60 minutes.
