Palace Entrance

The entrance to the palace for pedestrians and cars is via Trophy Gate, situated on the A309.

Public Transport

Trains

Hampton Court train station is located a five-minute walk from the palace. National Rail train services run from London Waterloo every 30 minutes, calling at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Earlsfield, Wimbledon, Raynes Park, New Maldon, Berrylands, Surbiton, Thames Ditton and Hampton Court.

Hampton Court station is in zone 6. Oyster cards are accepted on this route.

Trains returning to London Waterloo depart Hampton Court station at regular times: 

• Monday to Saturday: 24 and 54 minutes past the hour
• Sunday: 05 and 35 minutes past the hour

From Richmond - R68*

London Underground

There is no London Underground station at Hampton Court. The nearest Underground stations are in Wimbledon and Richmond, where connecting bus routes are available.

By car

The palace is on the A309 and is well signposted from all major local roads. Please follow the brown tourist attraction road signs:

• From the M25, take either exit 10 (onto the A307) or exit 12 (onto the A309).
• From the A3, take the A309.

Car parking at Hampton Court Palace

Limited parking is available. Car parking is available on a first come, first served basis, with payment required on site. During our busy periods it is advisable to consider other means of travel. If our on-site car park is full, a nearby off-site car park at Hampton Court Green is available (details below).

Car parking on site is £1.60 per hour, payable by card. Car parking bays fit a standard car only. 

Parking machines are touch screen; sanitiser dispensers are located next to the machines. Alternatively, you can use the Glide app.

There are 10 disabled parking bays available on site. Parking on site is free for Blue Badge holders.

Hampton Court Green

Located 500 metres from the entrance of the palace and is charged at £1.50 per hour. You can also find the car park entrance on what3words. 

Hampton Court Train Station

Hampton Court train station is located 200 metres from the palace entrance. For information about prices, please visit the National Rail website.

Bushy Park

Bushy Park is a 15-minute walk from the palace. For more information, visit the Royal Parks website.

Walton Road car park

Walton Road car park has 151 spaces, located at East Molesey, KT8 0DL. It is a 20-minute walk from the palace and it is served by the 411 bus route. For more information, visit the Elmbridge Council website.

Kingston upon Thames

Multiple public car parks are located nearby in Kingston upon Thames. Hampton Court Palace is a short bus journey via routes 111 or 216, which can be picked up from stop P2 or R in Kingston town centre.

• The Bittoms Car Park (303 spaces)

Hampton Court Palace and Ultra Low Emission Zone

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) came into effect from 29 August 2023, expanding across all London boroughs, which may affect visitors driving to Hampton Court Palace. Drivers are advised to check the following information below and the TfL website before travelling:

Is Hampton Court Palace and its car park in the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone and Low Emission Zone boundaries?

Yes, but the entry to the palace is outside both zones and the private roads within the grounds and the carpark are not subject to any charges. However, cars exiting the car park are.

Will I be charged exiting the palace?

The exit of the car park onto Hampton Court Road emerges into the charging zones. However, because the car park exit is left turn only, vehicles exiting the palace car park back out of London are unlikely to be charged unless they re-enter the ULEZ zone elsewhere with a non-compliant vehicle.

How do I know if my vehicle is compliant?

Visitors can check their vehicle is compliant on the TfL website.

Travel by boat

Public riverboat

Public riverboat services run in the summer from the following destinations:

• Westminster (takes about four hours)
• Richmond-upon-Thames (takes about two hours)
• Kingston-upon-Thames (takes about 45 minutes)

Private boat mooring

Mooring sites along Barge Walk:

• Privy Garden (by the Tijou Screens)
• Kingston Bridge (opposite Barge Walk Cottages)

Boats can stay for a maximum of 72 hours of paid mooring, up to a total of 96 hours.

We no longer collect mooring fees paid in cash from boat owners. Payment will also be no longer available at the Hampton Court Palace ticket office. Management of the mooring will fall under the control of District Enforcement Ltd. This company is responsible for the collection of mooring fees by telephone or online payments only.

Boat owners must first register their arrival on the Where to moor website.

Mooring is free for the first 24 hours and then £8.00 per 24-hour period thereafter.
