For education visits to Hampton Court Palace
New for September 2025
To help support your prebooked school or home educator visit, we have launched our brand-new Learning Sensory Bags that support multi-sensory exploration in the Tudor State Apartments and are a great way to engage children and young people with the historic environment. The bags are aimed at pupils with additional needs of all ages and are free to book in advance or borrow on the day from the Clore Learning Centre.
Each bag has a label referencing a different historical figure with key information about their connection to Hampton Court Palace.
What's in the bag?
The contents of the sensory bags have been designed for varying learning needs and to help guide your visit. Items and resources include:
- Glove puppet
- Sample tapestry
- Crown
- Magnifying glass
- Bags of coloured squares
- Fidget toys
- SEND widget trail
- Gardens widget trail
- Photo find sheet
Ear defenders are available on request from the Clore Learning Centre.
Other Useful Resources
We have also included some resources to help guide your visit. These are designed for varying learning needs.
How to book
We recommend prebooking by emailing hamptoncourtlearning@hrp.org.uk at least two weeks prior to your visit. Please include your booking reference number and how many bags you would like to reserve.
It is also possible to pick up the bags from the Clore Learning Centre on the day of visit. However, please note that this is subject to availability and on a first come, first served basis.
All bags should be returned on the day of visit. This can be done at the Clore Learning Centre before 15:00, and can also be handed to one of our Palace Host team at the exit of the Palace until the palace closes.
Please note that all bags and contents are checked and cleaned after use to get them ready for the next use.
Conditions of Use:
- All bags must be used under adult supervision.
- You can borrow a maximum of 10 bags per visit, provided this does not exceed the number of adults in your group.
- All items within the bag must be returned in good condition at the end of your visit.
- Please ensure objects are not misused in ways that can damage our collection or cause harm to individuals.
