Tudor Palaces and World Trade

about this session

Key Stage 2 | Subject: History | Topics: Tudors | Session Type: classroom & Route-based

Elizabeth I is expanding her horizons. There’s money to be made across the ocean and we need to find a brave crew to sail the seven seas to do so. But first we need someone to pay for it…

In this route and classroom-based session children will go on a voyage of discovery to find out how new technology is making the world a smaller place in the 16th century, where they need to go to secure patronage for their venture and what the real cost of trading overseas will be.

Journeying through Hampton Court Palace, they will look for evidence to tell us which commodities the Tudors wanted and who paid the human price for the legacy of Elizabethan exploration.

The session supports historical enquiry through active exploration and participation.
