Imagine you are living in Tudor times and are looking for a job at court! This session focuses on some of the lesser-known jobs occupied by children and explores some of the interesting stories of the adult courtiers who might have been their role models.

Taking place on the Tudor Route, children will enjoy fun activities and listen to real-life stories of the different jobs at court. They will draw comparisons between their own lives and those of Tudor children, and discover that records do exist for lesser-known historical characters - however sparse. And discover how we use this information to build a richer picture of our shared past.

The session supports historical enquiry through active exploration and participation.

Learning objectives

Children will:

• Find out about the real-life jobs that children did at the Tudor court.
• Compare and contrast the lives of Tudor children with ours today.
• Explore the palace spaces to discover how the different roles and functions worked at court.
