Relaxed Hour at the Tower of London

Frequently Asked Questions

We are happy for you to bring your family and friends but please no groups larger than 10 people. 

This event is a pilot, we are very grateful for your feedback and hope to programme more in the future.

These events are aimed at Neurodivergent and learning-disabled children and their families. We ask that all people over the age of 16 are accompanying a family group.

No, we will not ask for proof of diagnosis or supporting documents.

Yes, booking is required and only ticket holders will be admitted. We will not accept walk-ins.

No, this event is free. However, if you wish to stay at the Tower of London after the event ends at 11:00, you will need to purchase a day ticket.

Due to the age and location of the Tower of London, there is no Blue Badge parking on-site. 

We aim to open as much of the site as possible. Full details will be provided in our Visual Story sent upon booking.

Yes, the Yeoman Warders are looking forward to meeting you and your family.

Yes, the ravens will be out. We ask that visitors do not approach or attempt to touch them, as they are not domesticated.

Yes, the Crown Jewels will be open.

Yes, the Royal Armouries will be open. 

The history of the Tower of London is as a royal palace and prison. There are areas of the site which may be distressing for some visitors. Clear signage will be placed to inform you of which rooms contain graphic information or artefacts.

Our staff will answer your questions around the more graphic history of the Tower on a 1-1 basis but will not announce graphic details aloud in a tour group setting. Staff will be stationed at the entrance to more graphic areas of the site to pre-warn visitors of the contents of the rooms.

We will place signage and staff to pre-warn visitors of graphic historical detail but cannot guarantee that all information panels around the site will be free of this information. Please note this is detailed in a family friendly way.

We have some SEN sessions that feature facilitators, but they are not actors. No re-enactments of real events will be taking place, especially any that may cause distress.

We will not be providing a Sensory Room but there will be quiet break-out spaces available. 

No, you can choose to take part in the activities, or wander around the site to your own schedule.

Yes, there is a Changing Places toilet on site.
